Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that combines the best aspects of Supergiant’s critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.

BATTLE OUT OF HELL
As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you’ll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.

UNLEASH THE FURY OF OLYMPUS
The Olympians have your back! Meet Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, and many more, and choose from their dozens of powerful Boons that enhance your abilities. There are thousands of viable character builds to discover as you go.

BEFRIEND GODS, GHOSTS, AND MONSTERS
A fully-voiced cast of colorful, larger-than-life characters is waiting to meet you! Grow your relationships with them, and experience thousands of unique story events as you learn about what’s really at stake for this big, dysfunctional family.

BUILT FOR REPLAYABILITY
New surprises await each time you delve into the ever-shifting Underworld, whose guardian bosses will remember you. Use the powerful Mirror of Night to grow permanently stronger, and give yourself a leg up the next time you run away from home.

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE
Permanent upgrades mean you don’t have to be a god yourself to experience the exciting combat and gripping story. Though, if you happen to be one, crank up the challenge and get ready for some white-knuckle action that will put your well-practiced skills to the test.

SIGNATURE SUPERGIANT STYLE
The rich, atmospheric presentation and unique melding of gameplay and narrative that’s been core to Supergiant’s games is here in full force: spectacular hand-painted environments and a blood-pumping original score bring the Underworld to life.

  1. Ya deeed it!

Think it took me about 45 attempts to get out? I ended up favouring the Fists most, it's great how every weapon and every boon setup has different potentials.
Well worth doing several more times – I found after just over 100 runs I'm nearly at 100%, just need to beat Skelly's 16/32 Heat challenges – even managed the Charon achievement πŸ˜‰

  2. Funilly enough, I got my first clear only on the 6th run. But not because im good πŸ˜‚. I never even managed to clear Meg before that. I just got extremely lucky with the Daedalus Hammer upgrade on the sword (Dash Nova) then got a heroic Hermes boon (40% faster special). I found out that if i continuously spam special with the daedalus upgrade it basically made me virtually untouchable with how fast dash nova procs πŸ˜‚. I cheesed all the way into the hades fight and I even had no idea wtf is happening. Because of this after several more runs i got extremely stubborn and thought it's the only way to win and tried replicating it but to no success.

My proper clear was around 20ish with the Bow too! I got Ares Boon on Attack and then Curse of Longing (Aphrodite duo boon) basically just continues to apply.

  3. Congratz! That was really close at the end πŸ˜€
I really dont know much WHEN my first clear happend. I played on normal difficulty though. I think normally you get the Heat thing right after the first clear.
What I do know is, that I definitely had my first clear with the Shield and mainly Ares boons. I dont even know how long the run it self was. What I can say though is about builds:
When stack out the mirror it becomes relatively easy to recreate builds. And let me tell you that there are REALLY powerful builds. I think my fastest clear was like 16 minutes on Heat 18 or something like that. So if you get the right build with right Duo's, you absolutely demolish everything in your way πŸ˜€

  4. Do you have any plan on furthering the Zero Escape Trilogy? I had been really looking forward to seeing you play and unfold the ensuing story after the last cliffhanger scene in 999.

  5. That was a close one. You did really well in the second phase of the Hades fight. One question: I know you are already way further into the game, but, did you realize that your casts automatically fly towards you when exiting a chamber? No need to pick them up every time. Maybe someone already mentioned that or you figured it out πŸ˜€

I think it took me about 20 runs to first beat Hades, not hellmode. I started playing it in early access in which all mirror talents were unlocked from the start, so keys only unlocked new weapons and progression was much faster as a result. I sticked to the spear with Ares' doom damage and the boon with which you can stack the effect on enemies. Oh and I also loooved Demeter's laser cast. Used it in in probably a third of all my runs. That and Athena's aid in the Hades fight to ignore his laser attack worked really well for me. Love how many playstyles the game allows. Super excited for Hades 2 and what sort of boons there are in that game

  6. Finally! Congratulations mate, it took me around 35 if I'm not mistaken, was fissured by the spear same as you were, not hell mode btw. From now on you have 2 options, there's a significant ending after a few more escapes and a epilogue after a whole while, the story definitely doesn't end now, hope you stick with it

  7. You did it! Congrats! As soon as I saw the title, I had a feeling this would be the one, but that 8 health win was a surprise to be sure.
I think I escaped in my 18th attempt or so with the bow as well, normal mode though. Personal Liability from the Pact makes this way more difficult, so good job!

  8. Good job, that was fun watch πŸ™‚
You know a midrange player when you see one, well maybe a defense leading midrange, closer to control really. Also, you know a UW player when you see one, i.e. "blue-white" if we're talking mtg colors somehow xD (I mean, cmon, Demeter W with a splash of Poseidon U, actually splash of Ares also, which is Red, which makes it jeskai colors).

  9. I beat Hades the first time on run #30 (normal mode). I was using the gun which is NOT my favourite weapon. I don’t remember much about the build other than I had Triple Bomb on the special. Once I beat Hades once it became so much easier to win again and again.

  10. Well done! I don't remember how many tries it took me to beat Hades for the first time, but I do remember I did it with the sword. It's funny how comfortable you felt with the bow, for me the sword and spear were my go-to weapons that I had the easiest time with. Though, the game is balanced really well, so with the right upgrades every weapon can be extremely powerful.

  11. Good job Matt! I played on hell mode too and I think it took me 30 attempts. I had all 3 death defiances which helped me out quite a bit, and I was using the gun with huge damage on the special.

  12. Oh, do try to give Patroclus a nectar. His keepsake is quite handy. And as far as gems go, a lot of the renovations are cosmetic so spending the gems at the Broker isn’t a huge deal, but there’s are a few things that might be worth Renovating. Specifically some of the stuff under the Lounge tag. But more to the point:

Congratulations Matt! First clear! And a nail-biter of a finish too. I looked back at my first save file; apparently my first clear was on normal mode, attempt 34, with the sword and an absolute mishmash of boons(Aphrodite, Athena, Ares, and Demeter). I remember being surprised to make it out with the sword first.

Looking forward to seeing more clears!
