  1. I find it better to get Aphrodite's attack and Artemis' cast instead. Aphrodite's attack gives me free privileged status as I have to attack an enemy to target it with chiron anyways. Also if i can get low tolerance later it means every enemy i target with chiron is already weak and can stack to 8. (Also heart rend can be cool but not as useful)

  2. I think for me the time i stopped caring about getting good, or rather getting unreasonably good, was when I did get good at one game. After you do it once the desire to be exceptional at a game kinda faded, like if i like a game i will make an effort to at least be better than most casual players but i don't have a pressing desire to surpass anyone because i know i have that one game that I'm pretty good at, where I did give my all and got good results.

  3. Speedrunning got me back into gaming. I hadn't really been gaming after the PS2 generation but I randomly came across some Dark Souls 1 speedruns right as Dark Souls 3 was about to release and it was just wildly entertaining to me and it made me want to play those games. I personally don't speedrun just because of the time investment and I personally enjoy a more chill gaming experience but watching them is fun.

  4. 27:22 interestingly, I know Celeste speedruns has no RNG that matters for humans (theres a little RNG with how spikes spawn that makes a difference for TAS, but that's not an issue outside of TAS)

Yeah, I don't wanna be a speedrunner to get #1, but i do wanna get sub-10 on each weapon (*maybe* each aspect??) in Hades, sub-1-hour in Celeste and then optimize a little bit, but that's just a personal goal 😛

  5. I love speedrunning Hades and I'm thinking about streaming Hades 2 EA… I went down from 14 something on the fists, to Hera 13:36 (with EM4 turned on), and then Hera 12:48! I would be satisfied if i could get to 10 minutes or sub 10 before H2EA comes out. I watch you and the world records to learn how to kill enemies more efficiently. The repetitiveness is really soothing for me after a day of work. I have like maybe 800 runs in hades. I tend to play seeds out because resetting feels "bad," I can't explain it lol. I almost reset the 12:48 Hera run because I could not get crush shot until elysium. but I got flurry shot and twin shot and I played it out.

  6. Curse of Nausea gives a ~43% increase to dps while Low Tolerance gives you 60%, so long as you can keep weak and 8 stacks of hangover on. This is actually an instance where that one aphro boon that makes weak last longer is moderately useful (still don't know why you can pom it though). I'd say Curse of Nausea is the better boon since it doesn't have extra conditions that have to be met, it's just a straight 43% increase.

  7. I think Chiron is so popular among new players because it delivers a big chunk of damage in one go and because it's ranged it feels safe. And the effect of all the arrows homing in looks cool.

I don't speed run anything, but watching Hades speedruns made me way better at the game. I wasn't using my dash enough, I didn't know how the god pool or styx sacks worked, I didn't consider that some boons were better for certain weapons (hello Hera + Crush Shot). The Hermes Cup and later your videos made me a much stronger player, even if I still think anything above about 22 heat isn't much fun.

  8. i did try to speedrun diablo 2 resurrected about 2-3 month after release on a poison necro….. i was little over 3 hours slower at the end of act 2 wich is where i figgured that a necro might not be the fastest choice. I did have lots of fun on my try tho

  9. When it comes to speedrunning I think people should want to based on love of a game. I recently finished 32 heat on all weapons and now finished sub 10 minutes on one weapon. Plan to do all weapons sub 10 and attempt fresh start clear. Hades is just that addictive to me. Only logged more hours on Skyrim, FF8, and FF12.

  10. I think this is pretty much the build i first beat 32 heat with. I didnt have ares though, i think i got Broseidon + Dio and got the expert boons duo super early in tartarus. I had the athena dash too. Same attack, special and call though,
You really do get nutso call buildup with chiron + dio.

  11. I'm surprised with the choice of Dionysos for the special, I'm mean… It's cool and all but against bosses, once you've maxed out hangover doesn't it stop scaling ? Not an expert but wouldn't Zeus or Artemis have more dps ?
Having say that I'm sure if that's the speed runner's choice there is a very good reason I don't really understand
