► Hades 1.0 Full Release Story Synopsis
Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that combines the best aspects of Supergiant’s critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.
As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you’ll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.

Oh noooooo Patroclus, my heart
No one spoil it, let her find out on her own
I love the small adaptations the game makes as you keep going through it. I've done maybe 40 runs and the game keeps giving you surprises now and again when you don't expect it.
As you play on keyboard – you may consider remapping buttons for :
– Special Attack – rebind it from Q to Mouse Right Button.
– Cast – rebind it from Mouse Right Button to Left SHIFT
Because pressing Q button is not very easy when you go to the Left or you simply need to spam the attack (like shield/spear throw) – meanwhile your Cast spells are usually more of a tactical abilities – ones to be released and then proceed with the fight w/o magic for a while or use them once every 3 seconds if Stygian Blood is active – in either way there is no need for its button being bound to "easy to spam" button like Mouse Right Button.
Hey Welonz! Not sure if you see this, but i thought about sharing my knowledge about the weapons and builds in general. But i'm not that great thinker, especially when it comes to games, so no garantee this will be a perfect advice, but it helps me.
I would honestly divide the weapons as close-range, long-range and then..weird ones i guess?
Anyway, you currently have a sword, which would be close-range weapon (there's one more but i think you need to unlock it first), and for these you kinda need to jump into the enemies. Or at least close to them. Meaning, you'll get quite vulnerable and it'd be great to look into defensive boons, especially great here is athena, i love that girl. So any kind of deflecting ability is a plus here. I would mention the spear here, since that one is quite problematic for me, as it can be both close and long-range. Honestly, i have a hard time finguring that one, so no tip from me, maybe someone else has some advice?
Anyway, the long-range weapons, i think, would suit your play style more, because you're really smart about your actions and can learn fast, so standing at the distance, figuring out foes would probably be better for you. There are also two weapons, you have a bow and there's one more later on. These dont do that much damage, though, and you need to pick a lot of offensive boons (ares, in my opinion, has the best ofensive ones. except his call…i dont like his call lmao). With long-range weapons you won't be so squishy, because you're able to stand by and not get way too personal with the enemies. It'd still be great to pick some defensive boons or just increase your helath during run, tho.
And then there's a shield, which is once again kinda both long and close-range. But shield is great, because you don't really need to care about defensive upgrades, since you can block almost everything. On the other hand, the damage is not that awesome, but you can upgrade it pretty easily. Really thing that shield might be your best option, but i also like how you're recycling all the weapons, that's also pretty fun imo! Have fun, Welonz <33
Patroclus! I was wondering when he would show up, since Achilles is such a major player!
If you have the time, reading up on the epic poem The Iliad will give you a huge amount of lore concerning the gods and, maybe even more so, Achilles.
you played really well in terms of fighting, maybe the best ever so far, but your room choice and boon decisions may have been sub-optimal given the problem of Theseus. you got his bull friend down, just need to lose less health before defeating him, but you MUST have something that backstabs him or circumvents his shield, and/or figure out when he leaves himself open. you could have won that damage race if you had a boon for that. like if you'd gone through that Zeus room. ah well. I think in general if you really, really want to win best practice would be prioritize boons and the hammer. hearts are good but if your DPS is low they'll scarcely matter, and you lose the damage race.
The artstyle in hades' s house reminds me of the game Catherine
In Homer's story the Illiad, (the legend of the Trojan war) Patroclus was Achilles greatest friend and student, who died wearing Achilles' armor into battle while the real Achilles was having one of his infamous moods and refused to fight.
Upon hearing this Achilles was anguished, and challenged Hector, Patroclus' killer and Troy's prince, to single combat. After Hector was slain Achilles attached him to his chariot and dragged him around the battlefield, as the horrified Trojans watched.
It was implied in later tellings by Plato that Patroclus was also Achilles lover. Though Achilles had female partners as well, a mentor sleeping with one of his students wasn't uncommon in those times since it helped morale and that's just how the Greeks rolled.
This game depicts their relationship as being very intense but It's actually unlear what the exact nature their relationship in the Illiad was.
My interpretation is that they where close friends they would just also hook up.
a mortal dies and goes to the underworld. is achilles a mortal? yes he is.
by the way, found your channel through this game but you remind me a lot of christopherodd whom i've been watching for years because of the story content. looking forward to your playthroughs!
Patroclus…oh, I hope him and Achilles reunite because I'm so sad 🙁
"There's nothing in Charon's shop that would be of immediate help" I. What. Boons? Also a place to get an HP upgrade? Poms?
Yeah. Took me a while to work out how the max life bonuses work. When you get a +X bonus it also adds X to your current health.
So, if you have 10/100hp and get a +25 max health you will be at 35/125hp.
Equally when you get rid of the collar it took you from 47/163 down to 9/125. 38 off your current and max health.
Love it how Supergiant interprets the Greek myths yet stay somewhat faithful to the original kinda like Jackson's Lord of the Rings.
Enjoyable video to watch, but I can't stop facepalming on picking hammer boosting specials and skipping over tripe dash strike, attack boosts and the chaos dash-strike boost, despite that the one thing you use almost exclusively when cast is on cooldown.
Materwelonz: " Cause you know what they say, revenge… is… cold dish… best served delicious." If they didn't say it before I sure hope they do now.

In the Theseus battle in this run you had high health, but you'd focused pretty much your entire build on high health & strong cast, even miniscule increases in your Cast strength, and not gotten any other Poseidon boons that would either synergize with that (e.g. you'd already seen a Poseidon boon you hadn't taken that'd have given 30% bonuses against bosses for both your cast & your attack) or help your Attack or Special not be so weak… As such at the end it was a mistake to go at the end for another measly 25 health rather than use your gold to try and find boons that might assist.
Still, you reached the Elysium boss battle much earlier than I ever did. I was around my 30th escape attempt when I first faced Theseus & Asterius.
"Theseus can kill the Minotaur!" He already did.
Reincarnation is possible in Greek mythology, but is the choice of the person, and the choice is only available to the good souls. The myths vary, but the best part of Elysium, called Isle of the Blessed, or the Fortunate Isles, or whatever is reserved for people who went to Elysium after death, chose to be reborn and ended up in Elysium again, and again a third time. People who were able to achieve Elysium thrice would then go to these Isles.
Titans are beings that came before Gods. In Greek mythology, Gods are not the ultimate beings and are also not creators of the universe or the First, or anything like that. The Personifications of abstract concepts like Time, Chaos, Night, Darkness, Death, etc. came first. Then came more solid personifications like Earth, Sky, Sun, etc. The Sky (Uranus) and Earth (Gaia) gave birth to children who were the Titans, giant creatures that are embodiments of Nature. Like Kronos, and also, Crios, Hyperion, for the sun, I think, Phoebe (Moon), Oceanus (guess what), etc. To stop the Sky and Earth from ever coming together and mating, and thus creating more ultra-powerful beings, Kronos cut off the Skt's dick, which gave rise to Aphrodite, like I said a few videos back. However, the Sky keeps trying to embrace Earth, which would destroy everything on the Earth, so Atlas was forced to hold the Sky away from the earth, on his shoulders.
Thanatos is supposed to be the most beautiful thing to behold. He was like the Christian angels. Majestic but black wings and everything perfect. For he was the personification of Death.
I’m addicted to this series! Again amazing content.
41:25 Attacks sync with the music 😀
if you have the spear your special on its return can get behind shield enemies
levelling up has diminishing returns, leveling past 5 usually isn't worth it unless its hangover effects. The jump from level 1 to 2 is huge
Asphodel is normally a nice place. It just got flooded by lava recently.
It’t so cute to see someone who doesn’t know greek mythology connect the dots of the story
DUSA IS SO CUUUUUUTE!
Ancient greece did have reincarnation, kinda.
You spent your time in Tartarus or Elysium dependign on your behaviour, for about 1000 years or so then went to the fates, chose a new life and drank from Lethe to start as a blank slate for the most part.
Said in the tale of Er (Yes that is how his name is spelled in english, I don't know either.)
