If you find meaning in the Gnostics, in their concept of the divine spark, in the ONE. This is NOT your channel. Extremely permissible with Jewish ideas while insulting the mythical and historical figure of Jesus. There isno christian gnostics without Jesus.
There are much better channels than this where they are clear that the material world (the prison) goes hand in hand with the Abrahamic religions. Especially the Jewish one. Plus he is drunk as fuck.
Be careful to not fall victims for the Jerusalem Syndrome but in the atheist way!!!
Good sound.
You guys need to check your logic… apply your comments and questions to someone who goes to Mecca or Athens… they would be just as struck by the
JerusalemAthens/Mecca Syndrome too…. e.g. why did the writers write Jesus to have been on Lake Tiberius and why are they calling it a SEA not a small lake… because they want it to be a Sea like in the Odyssey and they want it to have storms even though lake Tiberius does not get waves higher than 2 feet at most because it is surrounded by hills on all sides and is a small body of water. You guys are Myth Gnosis
Jews worship Saturn
Something to look at, relating to Q document debate, would be to ask if in those centuries there was such a thing as an author separate from being a scribe copyist. Where in the transition from oral to literate cultures were they collectively or individually? Were the gospels in part dictated, were they edited from existing documents, or were there literate authors composing what they wrote?
The father-reveal is a big deal myth trope, right? Like Luke Skywalker learning he wasn't just a farm boy son of a dead freighte rpilot. He's a special (twin) child of a famous space wizard.
It's weird how misunderstanding of parallelism leads to the two asses which then makes astrotheology seem more plausible as there are two donkey stars within Cancer.
The sun in the center of the zodiac mosaic sounds heliocentric but we're sometimes led to believe antiquity was on the old (flat) geocentric model.
Well its comment time. I hear you derek, but we can look at it kind of like this. The Yeshu_ dude and his father were doing work in Sepphoras and basically Herod picks up the town and moves it so that they can't work.
What I would say is maybe Yeshu_ carpenter is thinking, hey all those greek gods, big let down. Maybe I will check out the dude in the camel hair cloak. Im mean the bigger towns had walls, if you dont go inside, probably you are not going to see alot of idols. He could have after beginning his itenerant career just avoided all the greco-roman hot spots. We have a couple (an understatement) of places around here were its like anything goes, and I mean anything. But if you are not looking for those places, youll probably miss them and may not even know that such places exist.
I appreciate though the mission of showing the iconographic landscape, but keep in mind that Herod was not like by mant people and they may have not cared for his allowance. It would also be nice to see some display of art by those who were nostalgic for older neareastern culture.
Take all the religions of the day and put them in a blender. What comes out is a Christianity smoothie.
I dont know who wrote mark, seems like he is aware of Q, he seems to have source material. For Mark to be a writer he needs to be with Peter in rome, but hes writing somewhere, hes got alot of detail for a story heard one place and then witing it in another. Whereas Hey joe what did that logoi say, hey sam what miracles did he do, scribble, scribble, . .. .
The zodiac in synagogues was a decree and thus the Hebrews stepped on it during the prayer time and achieved the opposite of what the conquerors wanted
Why is Q so crazy?
Because some people want christianity to be a big lie. They dont want disciples to be a thing, they want all the writings to be late, they dont want intermediate textual evidence. They want to fabricate an antithesis.
Missed the notification. Enjoyed the stream. thanks.
Im in israel right now i was riding around in a desolate area this morning around soreq nucleor station after sunrise time. You can really see why they call this land holy, the mist ,the way the sun shines you have to see it ,you can feel it

Talmudic sources:
In this baraita Rabbi Yehuda is described as head of the speakers in every place. The Gemara asks: And why did they call him head of the speakers in every place? The Gemara relates that this resulted due to an incident that took place when Rabbi Yehuda and Rabbi Yosei and Rabbi Shimon were sitting, and Yehuda, son of converts, sat beside them. Rabbi Yehuda opened and said: How pleasant are the actions of this nation, the Romans, as they established marketplaces, established bridges, and established bathhouses. Rabbi Yosei was silent. Rabbi Shimon ben Yoḥai responded and said: Everything that they established, they established only for their own purposes. They established marketplaces, to place prostitutes in them; bathhouses, to pamper themselves; and bridges, to collect taxes from all who pass over them. Yehuda, son of converts, went and related their statements to his household, and those statements continued to spread until they were heard by the monarchy. They ruled and said: Yehuda, who elevated the Roman regime, shall be elevated and appointed as head of the Sages, the head of the speakers in every place. Yosei, who remained silent, shall be exiled from his home in Judea as punishment, and sent to the city of Tzippori in the Galilee. And Shimon, who denounced the government, shall be killed.

Since contradictions in Ecclesiastes were mentioned, the Gemara cites additional relevant sources. Rav Yehuda, son of Rav Shmuel bar Sheilat, said in the name of Rav: The Sages sought to suppress the book of Ecclesiastes and declare it apocryphal because its statements contradict each other and it is liable to confuse its readers. And why did they not suppress it? Because its beginning consists of matters of Torah and its end consists of matters of Torah. The ostensibly contradictory details are secondary to the essence of the book, which is Torah. The Gemara elaborates: Its beginning consists of matters of Torah, as it is written: “What profit has man of all his labor which he labors under the sun?” (Ecclesiastes 1:3), and the Sages of the school of Rabbi Yannai said: By inference: Under the sun is where man has no profit from his labor; however, before the sun, i.e., when engaged in the study of Torah, which preceded the sun, he does have profit. Its ending consists of matters of Torah, as it is written: “The end of the matter, all having been heard: Fear God, and keep His mitzvot; for this is the whole man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13). With regard to this verse, the Gemara asks: What is the meaning of the phrase: For this is the whole man? Rabbi Eliezer said: The entire world was only created for this person. Rabbi Abba bar Kahana said: This person is equivalent to the entire world. Shimon ben Azzai says and some say that Shimon ben Zoma says: The entire world was only created as companion to this man, so that he will not be alone.

Rav Yehuda said: Indeed, that man is remembered for good, and Ḥananya ben Ḥizkiya was his name, because were it not for him, the book of Ezekiel would have been suppressed. Why did they wish to suppress it? Because they found that its words contradicted the words of Torah, as its later chapters contain many halakhot that appear not to accord with those of the Torah. What did he do? They brought up to him three hundred barrels of oil, for light and sustenance, and he sat in an upper chamber and expounded it, to reconcile its teachings with those of the Torah.

A wise gentile, Proclus ben Plospus, once asked a question of Rabban Gamliel in the city of Akko when he was bathing in the bathhouse of the Greek god Aphrodite. Proclus said to him: It is written in your Torah: “And nothing of the proscribed items shall cleave to your hand” (Deuteronomy 13:18). For what reason do you bathe before an idol in the bathhouse of Aphrodite? Rabban Gamliel said to him: One may not answer questions related to Torah in the bathhouse. And when he left the bathhouse, Rabban Gamliel gave him several answers. He said to him: I did not come into its domain; it came into my domain. The bathhouse existed before the statue dedicated to Aphrodite was erected. Furthermore, people do not say: Let us make a bathhouse as an adornment for Aphrodite; rather, they say: Let us make a statue of Aphrodite as an adornment for the bathhouse. Therefore, the main structure is not the Aphrodite statue, but the bathhouse. Rabban Gamliel continued: Alternatively, there is another answer: Even if people would give you a lot of money, you would not enter before your object of idol worship naked, or as one who experienced a seminal emission who comes to the bathhouse to purify himself, nor would you urinate before it. This statue stands upon the sewage pipe and all the people urinate before it. There is no prohibition in this case, as it is stated in the verse only: “Their gods” (see Deuteronomy 12:2), which indicates that a statue that people treat as a deity is forbidden, but one that people do not treat with the respect that is due to a deity is permitted.

Battle of Megiddo
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Megiddo_%2815th_century_BC%29
The Battle of Megiddo (fought 15th century BC) was fought between Egyptian forces under the command of Pharaoh Thutmose III and a large rebellious coalition of Canaanite vassal states led by the king of Kadesh.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Megiddo_%28609_BC%29
This Battle of Megiddo is recorded as having taken place in 609 BC when Pharaoh Necho II of Egypt led his army to Carchemish (northern Syria) to join with his allies, the fading Neo-Assyrian Empire, against the surging Neo-Babylonian Empire.
U guys are great and thank you for your channels, digital discussions, etc on comparative religion, mythic topics, Christian origins & gnostic questions… but please refrain from "bro"/"bruh" speech- lol- jk 😜 but looking forward to more and Dr. Tabor content!
He probably should have worn the mic the s sound causes static
I’ve got chills tonight, watching this episode at work, just remembering when I was at Panias!
I’m so glad you guys are finally in the Holy Land experiencing it firsthand. As I mentioned in chat before you left, the Bible really does comes alive for you after you’ve tread upon the actual sites or alleged sites, depending upon the perspective and the particular location, where this mythical history took place. It is not just a cliche.
For me, Panias was where it first hit home for me the most, where Jesus possibly pointed to the exact spot, an archaeological site which before my visit to the Holy Land – which was a credited class tour where I had to write a term paper afterwards – I imagined as being an imaginary spiritual Hell, lol.
I can’t wait to see the final course level videos you two produce with Dr. James Tabor on Caesarea Philippi!
Btw, I’m rather poor, but I think I will soon be able to start supporting you both monthly on Patreon, along Dr. Justin Sledge from Esoterica, whose YouTube site first led me to MythVision and the Gnostic Informant.
