I had studied and memorized scripture over 50 years when I began seeing changes in my bible that I couldn't explain in 2014. Then in 2016 I got my first computer and found out why. Perhaps the most historically correct of all the theories is that Christianity started out as much more Gnostic than it became from the 2nd century onwards, and the stories of Jesus and the disciples match those of other Mystery religions and Pagan religions precisely because Christianity was another Mystery Religion. Literalist Christianity as we know it was the Outer Mysteries of this spiritual religion. It explains why the historical centres of Christianity were all gnostic when literalist Christians went back to research the past, and why so many Pagan god-man elements are part of Christianity. It also explains why none of the scholars of the time mention Jesus or the miracles around his life, because even the Christians themselves knew that they were symbolic stories, not actual events. Later Christians had to defend their 'new' religion against critics who knew it was yet-another copy of the typical son-of-god saviour religions of the time.
God-Man myths were very popular and pre-dated the God-Man of Jesus by thousands of years. They all shared a common format which (or "vegetation myths") is that the Son of God has 12 disciples, and is betrayed and killed by a traitor. Popular myths such as the virgin birth, miracles, curing the blind and ill are also familiar and common aspects of these myths. As such, such events were assumed to be true of the historical Jesus. These myths became interwoven amongst the stories of someone who might have been real. Many Jewish sayings became attributed to this character, and sayings of John the Baptist too. Stories about the disciples were assumed to be true and not simply symbolic stories as the original gnostic Christians believed. Once people wrote pseudipigraphically under the names of the disciples people accepted them as true too. The rest is history, but initially is based on mistaken pseudo-historical accounts.

I don't agree with, "he went to hell" because the Bible also says that, "He took captivity captive." He did not have to go to hell to win. He had already won. Then his resurrection was on the day of First fruits where he took those souls that had been in Abraham's bosom up to the Father in heaven.

Jesus DID NOT go to hell! He lay dead while his spirit when back to God who holds the breath of life of all those that live. For Jesus himself said, the dead know nothing! After he rose Lazarus from the dead! Jesus like Lazarus was dead and took back his own life upon resurrection, victory over death and sin, when he then ascended to Heaven an sat on the throne in heaven as the representative of earth and of all mankind who accepted him and claim him as their Lord and savior! Those that do not are represented in Heaven by Satan! Jesus did not need to go to hell to defeat Satan, because after Satan became the prince of earth after the fall of Adam, satan was able to become the official representative of earth and mankind in Heaven until Jesus supplanted him after resurrection!
Abrahams bosom was the sanctuary where all the old testament saints went, and all the people that used to follow the law until John the Baptist came. When Jesus died on the cross, he opened the graves and many of the old testament saints came into the City of Jerusalem, when Jesus was carried up into heaven, he carried up all the old testament prophets, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca. In the deep, he preached to the spirits in prison. The deep is the bottomless pit, where the dragon shall be bound up for 1000 years. Abrahams bosom was just a term referring to paradise, Paradise before christ bore our sins. He is the sacrificial lamb of God, mentioned by John the Baptist. Jesus gained the keys to death and hell. Jesus said to one of the thieves on the cross with him, you shall be with me in paradise.

The only people in Hell are UNREPENTANT SINNERS – Jesus had no reason to go to hell – 'it is appointed unto man, once, to die and then to be judged" Why would Jesus go to Hell – He accomplished everything on the CROSS – get your theology straightenend out – on the cross He said… "IT IS FINIISHED" what you're saying is that Jesus had to do even more than He accomplished at the CROSS – Jesus didn't FIX Satan, He defeated him at the CROSS!!!!!!!!!
