๐Ÿค” NEW HERE? ๐Ÿค”
Hi! My name is Christopher Odd and Iโ€™ve been playing video games on the internet for a few years. I really enjoy a variety of games but generally lean towards games with a unique and engaging story (Bioshock, The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us etc), strategy/roguelike games (XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, Darkest Dungeon, etc), and RPGs (Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Dragon Age, etc). Of course, I am always looking for great indie games too!

  1. Feels weird almost to hear my comment in the video lol, I hope these tips don't get taken as backseating, I just like sharing technical things about the game that isn't explicitly communicated.

That being said, today's tip is about how boons are offered:

This isn't technically confirmed yet, but since this is how Hades 1 worked, I'm relatively confident in this being the case here too. In each run in Hades, you will only ever be able to take boons from 3 "normal" gods. (Hermes and Selene don't count towards this limit and will show up every run)

What those 3 gods are you can actually sort of decide. Once you take a boon from a god, they become locked in in your god pool, and until your god pool this run gets filled, all gods will still try to offer you their boons, but unless you actually take it, they don't get locked in. But after your 3 gods are chosen, those 3 will be the only 3 to offer you boons for the remainder of the run. This applies to room rewards and Charon's shop, including the blind boon that he occasionally carries, before your god pool is filled, what's in the bag will be pulled from the pool of all gods, but after your 3 is chosen, can only be pulled from your existing pool of 3 gods.

On a somewhat related note too, boons have the distinction of being a core boon or not, core boons are the ones that goes into one of the 5 slots on the left of the UI, these are your attack, special, cast, sprint and magick regen boons, the first boon that you see on a run will only ever be a core boon. Addtionally, whenever a core boon is offered to you in a slot that's already filled, it will always be a higher rarity than the one you currently have, and if you do choose to replace it, the level of your original boon will carry over to the new boon, so you also don't have to worry about "oh I already upgraded this boon like 3 times, so I shouldn't replace it".
