  1. i love this kind of content! being educated by people actually in the subculture. i personally am not goth per say, im really just under the alternative umbrella. and i really appreciate you saying that not everyone can express themselves, ive often been told im not alternative even thought my grandmother wont allow any style that isnt what she deems acceptable. love the content immensely!

  2. There is other reasons why many can't look goth all times, family life and jobs are two big reasons when you are older.

Back in the 80s and even 90s we didn't often have all those shops or even internet. That's why goth subculture were so good at diy from start. Creativity was a normal thing back then.
I used to both diy and sew from scratch my things. 🖤🖤🖤🖤

  3. I started listening to the music around 85-86, before the term was used in the San Francisco East Bay. I never heard the word goth until about 90-91. I started going to 'alternative' type clubs in 88, where everything from The Cure to 2 Live Crew was played. I think something was lost when goth music started to separate and have its own nights. I never wore a lot of make-up back then and usually wore punk/goth t-shirts, leggings, boots and my leather jacket every day. Over 30 years later and I am still listening to the music, doing a lot of DIY and dressing like a post-apocalyptic weirdo.
