  1. When you think about it, Arachne and Scylla are kinda similar. Both cursed by the gods into their current form. One became a rockstar, the other one a tailor, so who's to say which one is better, really.

  2. Yeah, the DPS ended up being too lacking in this run, despite a good source of healing. But the fact that you made it to Chronos 4 times before you're even supposed to be in Tartarus is a testament to your skill (Eris only shows up when you're getting too far too early – she should stop showing up very soon btw).

  3. Chronos' design is very interesting, he's literally hourglass shaped, and he dresses like an Egyptian Pharaoh with Roman numerals engraved on , embodying the past, present, and future of the Ancient world.

Him having pitch black skin and being really tall might also be a reference to a figure in Lovcraftian horror, Nyarlathotep.

  4. hii, loving the playthrough :D! if you havent figured it out yet you accidentally upgraded the centaur card, which increased your gain of max health and mana every 5 rooms from 3 and 3, to 4 and 4. opening the insight simply allows you to see all the available upgrades.

  5. Zagreus was, I mean is a short king too, remember Asterius calling him "short one"?; Mel is human size like Persephone, a way for the devs to signal the human side of their bloodline in this story?

  6. That Hephaestus boon on the special was severely underestimated! You didn't really use your special, so taking that boon makes it a tap-once-and-forget 400 burst damage every 20 seconds, effectively turning a useless ability into a useful one.

  7. Somehow it didn't occur to me that Homer was a shade who was reduced down to just being a disembodied voice in Hades and that's why he's the narrator.
I can understand why he wouldn't be alright. That's kind of a rough gig.

I appreciate Supergiant's trend of giving the gods small animals who are just vibing to carry around. That tortoise looks so pleased with itself.
The tortoise being a symbol of Hermes because he used a tortoise shell to invent the lyre.

"Mess" and "Pest can count as rhymes actually. Though in Welonz's accent, it would count as a slant rhyme; a pair that doesn't ordinarily rhyme in a given accent, but which can be made to rhyme by fudging with the pronunciation in a way that's still understandable.

"Before the gods re-shaped the world like this. Mortals did not have to die in agony, and waste away in this _pit_. A simpler age, and all the better for it."

Ah, there's good ol' Hesiod again. One of our oldest sources on Greek myth and a curmudgeonly old man complaining about how the youths these days are ruining society and it was better in the old days. He had this whole thing about how in Kronos' time, the Golden Age of Man, things were better and it was through man's lack of discipline and respect that life got worse and the gods stopped blessing humanity.

  8. I do have to point out in regards to the night bloom ultimate (the one that revives an enemy to fight for you ) . From what ive seen of other people play ,the revived enemy seems to be boosted in strengtb such that even the smallest lackeys can be useful . Also it can revive larger enemies obviously who can do quite a bit .

It however ,like most hexes ,shines the best when you get one or two of their unique upgrades . (For this one ,we have one allowing the minion to last until killed and another transferring the damage you take to the minion ) .

Also every boss has adds that you can revive . More useful on later bosses that summon stronger foes like chronos ,cerberus and the like .

  9. I think Poseidon's sprint is pretty decent for add clearing, like with the swarms of fish in Oceanus. Not so great for armored or bigger enemies for sure. There are some pretty decent sprints that you can get, I enjoy Zeus's sprint because if I'm avoiding things I can still do a bit of damage. Good experimental run today 😁

  10. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning for why Moros' trinket was better in that last fight. When it triggered you had a 0% probability of beating Chronos in 10 sec, you would need much much higher dps to have a chance. Lucky tooth would give you a low but not zero probability of winning since you can technically avoid all damage.

  11. Hey, Welonz, here's a tip for you that I just learned! Night Bloom does indeed raise a lackey from the dead during your encounter… with vastly inflated damage. They can rip bosses apart, and all of the bosses you've fought so far have some kind of adds that can be resurrected to rip and tear for you.
