YOU MAY BE USING THE SWORD WRONG… | Intermediate Guide | Hades v1.37

The swords are probably the most difficult weapon set to use, especially as you increase the heat from the Pact of Punishment. The reason is probably because the optimal way to use the sword — DASH STRIKES — is not intuitive. Dash-striking not only increases your damage potential but offers huge defensive benefits as well. In this video, I walk you through five techniques/combos for you to up your swordplay.

  1. Funny I just finished a game with the nemisis aspect and lots of special + dash strike. I also did have the Artemes dash-strike bonus boon with the double hit dash strike hammer.
That said I found this build difficult to deal with fat rat in the last region, as I had to dash into them a lot and get poisoned.
I'm also not smooth with the dash strike sequence.

  2. Chaos can sometimes increase dmg on dash strike by over 100% in 1.0 on epic rarity.

Also regarding, double edge, do you know if the 20% buff is additive or multiplicative in corelation with other attack/dash strike boons?

  3. First 2.5 minutes of this 12 minute guide are devoted to the fucking prelude and anticipation. I already know who you are and what this video is about, I've read the title, I know that this is going to be a video about it, no need to dedicate precious time to it

  4. A couple more tips regarding Arthur:
    – The range on Arthur's attacks is much larger than it seems. The final slash especially hits way beyond where the visible animation suggests. Get familiar with just how far the sword strikes actually hit so you know when best to employ them.
    – Arthur's consecration field can trap any Trial of the Gods effects that move. Ares, Artemis, Poseidon, and Aphrodite get totally stuck in the field. Zeus, Demeter, Athena, and Dionysus are immune, however, because their attacks simply appear and activate in a certain area.

  5. Says the spear and sword are hardest. And I have most of my clears with them. Lol. What makes you say the spear is difficult? You can just dash around and use the spear throw move to hit enemies from afar if you are in danger. The ranged ability of the spear makes it so versatile and easy for me

  6. While dash striking can help to be Mobile and dodge enemies by being behind them, using your two dashes in a row for strikes leaves you with none to actually dodge. This is especially problematic against Hades, as his spin attack has a huge tell, but also hits a very large 360 degree area.

This makes it very easy to get stuck without dashes when one of the heaviest hits in the game is coming at you. You can end up in a similar situation against asterius.

  7. Thanx for all the tips however I wan to correct one thing…. You don't need to use controller for the tips you mention, for example using keyboard is actually better (I am using fight stick for my hades since the first I started it on switch)… Controller is also preferable if your comfortable on it, you can also use a hotbox… It is all on your preferences…. The most important is hitting your key correctly and learning the skills correctly (especially the combos and animation cancelling)…. For me fight stick is amazing for hades

  8. One additional tip for Arthur: when new enemies are spawning, it's possible to prime your third swing for those enemies, allowing for the third (very powerful) swing in the combo to hit the enemy when they spawn – often immediately stripping the shield off of (or outright killing) many enemies off the bat.

The timing is a little awkward, but it can really help kill things quickly.

  9. Honestly whilst i still haven't completed my first clear yet, im getting extraordinary use out of the few times i've gotten the hammer with the -60% base health, with hp regen on attacks boon. dash striking into practically everything makes all but the final boss an absolute cake walk it so long as you manage to keep up stacks of death defiance and get some health boons. stacking doom on it, with aphrodites cast, with hopefully either posideons or athena's dash can make pretty much any room a cake walk –
hermes dash upgrade for 5 dashes just makes it go even further beyond.
It may not be the most powerful build out there, but being able to just rack up damage whilst keeping practically invunerable due to the hyper fast and agressive dash striking, is incredibly incredibly fun.
Demeters boons are also so incredibly fun to stylize and play around with, with her freezing cast granting free damage as you run away, or how her rarity increasing boon is amazing to get early.
only boons i don't really like for the sword are the ones from zeus and artemis tbh. they don't seem to impact as much damage, nor have as much survivability (excluding artemis's dash strike boon, but then its also a risk to go for it imo, over say something far more useful like posideon or artemis)

  10. I love the sword but was about to give up on it. It took me 38 runs to first beat Hades, was about to quit the game cause I couldn’t beat Lord Hades but then my friend said to try the bow, I switched to the bow and won with 2 death defiances left in my very first run with it. Needless to say I was shocked how underpowered the sword is. On my next run I used the spear and wasn’t as successful but I almost beat the final boss despite usually never even getting close with the sword. I’m gonna try this dash strike move to see if it helps, never really embraced dash striking. I’ll combine it with Ares doom damage and Athena dash to give me the best chance of winning but idk man, the sword is just way too weak compared to the bow and even spear cause you can strike stuff from a distance, I mean with the spear you can literally stun multiple enemies by striking repeatedly especially if you get lucky with hammer upgrade that does 3 spears instead of 1. The game just doesn’t seem balanced well for sword users especially since the sword is the most fun weapon to use.

  11. I'm not saying your video is bad but you definetly need someone to review and help you edit it. 2:24 before you even mention the first actual tip. You also dismiss hit and run because it "feels bad" without any reasoning behind like dps fall off or that it hinders your progressive ability to react quickly in the heat of battle and negates any counters you can pull off. Tips are solid enough but the video compilation and timelines are wonky. It's not a format that will get people interested or keep people comming back. Feel free to pm if you have questions or would like more insight and collaboration.
