Hades is a roguelike action role-playing video game developed and published by Supergiant Games. It was released for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Nintendo Switch on September 17, 2020, which followed an early access release from December 2018.

Players control Zagreus, the son of Hades, as he attempts to escape from Underworld to reach Mount Olympus, at times aided by gifts bestowed on him from the other Olympians. Each run challenges the player through a random series of rooms populated with enemies and rewards. The game has a hack and slash combat system; the player uses a combination of their main weapon attack, dash power, and magic ability to defeat them while avoiding damage to progress as far as possible. While Zagreus will often die, the player can use gained treasure to improve certain attributes or unlock new weapons and abilities to improve chances of escaping on subsequent runs.

  1. You should try pressing the "Back" button on your controller (opposite the "Start" button) during a run. It shows information about all of the upgrades that you have, including the ones that are normally minimized in the "+8" icon (or whatever number), and your keepsake, and even your mirror upgrades.

  2. Not really many notes this episode, but what the hell.

I do want to call out that when you said 'the call didn't do a lot of damage', you were looking at the only shot of the 3 that didn't crit, that did 120, while the other 2 did a combined 700. Granted, those were super lucky, but chunked pretty good. With Artemis' call, usually I just use it during my normal attacks as an added quick 100 damage on an enemy I'd rather not stay alive. It's especially helpful for enemies that only give you small windows to hit them (shield dudes are the worst). Bosses I'll usually try to wait for the full charge. Plenty of gods have boons that help charge the call quicker, making it more available in bosses. This is one of the reasons it can be good to grab calls early, since it maximizes the chances to get those boons.

With calls, notably, they can be activated no matter what animation you're in. Meaning that Artemis' call can just add to your combo, or Poseidon's call can activate as a dash even if you were otherwise not able to dash (since that one makes you invincible during it).

Deflects don't exclusively work on projectiles, either! You CAN deflect melee attacks. Note that this is not advisable. Also those really slow arrow traps can hit the enemies, so that's one decent reason to deflect them sometimes.

Yes the skeleton room is considered a miniboss, and yes they're just a lot of normal enemies. No I don't know why.

And good job on Asterius! I hope that in the next episode you'll have realized why I was telling you to get used to him.
