So checking your bids you will see how many you have left for chaos
Actually, there is a Chaos tracker on screen. The boon icon has a little time counter under it, and during that time it shows on the left side of your screen by default too. It's literally on screen at 1 encounter as you say this.
Going for a shield bull rush run is a highly effective way to make progress through the game, since the whole time you're charging the bull rush you're immune to almost everything coming from whatever half of the screen you're pointed at. It'll even block almost all boss attacks. Very handy against Hades especially.
Getting killed by Demeter's trial effect after badmouthing it the entire fight is the cherry on top of a hilarious run
Demeter has a couple of good boons. Her call is pretty nice since it covers a huge area
The point of the multiple weapons and boons is to change your playstyle according to what you get so give 'em a chance š
A Larian studios party based, story driven RPG? That sure narrows it down.
Demeter is kinda odd in that having a single boon of hers is arguably more of a downside than having no boons from her at all, however if you can stack some of them, and especially combine them with some of the duo effects it can be extremely powerful, but it requires a bit of luck and a fair amount of investment to work.
Demeter is kinda self stacking with itself, really, the only thing I don't like about her is the cast, or special depending on weapon I use, and the dash kinda, it's a bit clunky to target, but it's fine otherwise, cast though, not because it's trash or anything, but to make it good you need duo from artemis, and if I'm going for artemis, I prefer just do cast run with her cast instead
4:40 is it perhaps Baldurs Gate or Divinity Original Sin you were talking about Sam?
a couple of things that should really help out (in order by usefulness)
1. PRESS FUCKING SELECT ON YOUR CONTROLLER, especially for someone with the memory of a goldfish, you can press select and see literally all of your boons and what they do, you can all see how long the chaos will last or other consumables.
2. use a little more logic when pickign a boon. on most weapons you should use attacj way more than special, so for your attack pick boons that you can stack affects (chill, hangover, lightning), and on special you would prefer things that dont stack or don't have a per hit effect (weak, doom), dash you should be doing ALOT so also things that can stack or ATHENA so you can dash to deflect stuff.
3. UNDERSTAND DAMAGE VALUES BETTER, the percent increases seem better because the number is so much higher, but realize a 30% increase from 20 base dmage is less than 7 damage increase
4. hold off on an attack boon for a higher rarity one. Attack should be the majority of your DPS, and you don't need an upgrade for the first 2 floors, so only get an attack boon when it is rare or better, and ideally synergizes with your weapon, and so you can see what gods are on this run then you can know which wll give you the best attack boon (and for all others as well)
5. you don't need to fight the minotaur (like 80%+ of runs anyway) once you are 3-4 rooms into elysium if you see one of the next rooms as the skull (meaning more difficult) than you know its him and can usually pick the other door (again not always but usually). Yes if you do fight him he will be about 3/4 hp in the double fight but i dont think its worth it
The game by Larian Studios you were thinking could be either Baldur's Gate 3 or Divinity 2: Original Sin (or the first Divinity)
If you give Chaos a nectar he gives you an item that lets you go into the chaos gates without losing hp
I like to use that for the first 2 floors and then switch to the tooth for elysium

Iirc, Demeter has a super broken boon. It sets the rarity of all your boons to common (which sucks) but after every few rooms all of the boons you got before Demeter's go up a rarity. Super busted

Doom is really bad for single target damage, so if you plan on taking doom you need to have something that deals consistent enough single target for bosses
Hades's symbol isn't his beard its his bident (a trident but two-pronged instead of three) š
It sucks that you dislike Demeter's cast boon so much because it with the Artemus Duo boon is just a free win.
I do think you're sleeping on the Call a bit. It's generally way, way better (in boss fights at least) to hold it until you've maxxed out the gauge, then fire it. For example, most calls will take 33% hp off the Hydra, meaning you can bank it up while you kill all the heads, then just drop it for an insta kill at the end.
If u r using the sword next run, special then dash strike. That weapon is a rhythm mini game. With good boons on special, attack and dash, the dps is great.
u finally met the sad soul in elysium! He alone has saved many bad runs for everyone who was blessed to cross his path.
