Hades – #4 – I Love Dusa

This is definitely the nicest gorgon I’ve encountered in a video game.

  1. God gauge = charging by attacks on mobs and taking hits, its under your HP bar just have to pay attention to it. It resets per room encounter. For your next nectar save it and it someone try giving it those with in the house's halls. Also what the hell a Duo already 0_o i don't remember getting one that soon in game but its been a year nearly so >_>"

  2. Yo Dan, wait until you get a weapon that is more about quick hits, like the fists or the gun. Both do short bursts of small damage for their main attack, so they pair really well with stacked statuses like Hangover.

One of the big things about each god is that the more you invest in them through a run, the more their boons start to compliment each other. So Dionysus has a boon that causes enemies with hangover to give it to other enemies. Then he has another boon that gives you better damage when three or more enemies have hangover, and then another where hangover makes enemies slower. Put all of that together and your poison is infectious, makes you hit harder, and makes the enemy an easier target!

Then you can pair that with something from another god, like Artemis's Pressure Points, which gives a small chance for every bit of damage you do to be critical, which means %200 damage. That's not a huge help on a big one-hit weapon like the shield, but if you've specced Zagreus to do a lot of damage in small bites, and each one has that chance, it's a huge multiplier for your output.

  3. Aaaaaaaartemis. Is bae. Easily my favorite of the Olympians, with Athena a close second (both IRL and in game).

Also, yeah, Dusa is the best. She's an absolutely sweetie, and the way her story stuff plays out is wonderful. I love her.

  4. I did not expect Medusa to be depicted as a cute one. I figured she would be a lot darker in tone, but then again that would paint Poseidon and Athena in a pretty nasty light. It's not a nice story.

  5. For anyone else just picking up Hades, the Olympian gods should probably be last on the list of nectar recipients. Good first targets are Hypnos (start your run with up to 150 obol) and Cerberus (+50 health). Don't give them more than one until you've given everyone a bottle and gotten their keepsakes. Doom (Ares' boon) is probably best for the shield special since the attack is slow yet does bugger-all damage.

Also, Lightning boons are best for fast weapons since they are a flat increase in damage rather than a percentage – chain lightning cast is pretty great for clearing a bunch of weenies quickly as well. You'll go further if you think about how the boon matches up to the attack type.

Ideally, keys should be saved to open up more buffs on the mirror, at least until you can get the health buff (up to +50 health). Though if you want to play with more weapons that's fine too.

  6. @PlayFrame since you mentioned voice actors, I was a little disappointed to find out that Susan Egan didn't voice Megara, because the voice actress that is playing her sounds very similar. It would have been really cool if somehow they got her and Megara in this game was the same voice actor as Megara from the Disney Hercules movie.
