There's a very specific reason as to why A and B are in the order they are in Nintendo controllers. A is the button closer to the edge of the controller, therefore the easiest to access by the player. A is often use for confirmation in menus and the main action during gameplay like jumping. It has nothing to do with language, it's a design choice.

I always find it weird when people get funny about controllers switching buttons. The controls are always the same during game play most of the time, its only on menus where you have to move your finger to a different button
