Hades | When Theorycrafting Goes Wrong | #33

Hades is a roguelike action role-playing video game developed and published by Supergiant Games. The game was released for Microsoft Windows and Nintendo Switch on September 17, 2020, which followed an early access release from December 2018. Players control Zagreus, the son of Hades, as he attempts to escape from Underworld to reach Mount Olympus, at times aided by gifts bestowed on him from the other Olympians. Each run challenges the player through a random series of rooms populated with enemies and rewards, and the player uses a combination of their main weapon attack, dash power, and magic ability to defeat them while avoiding damage to progress as far as possible. While Zagreus will often die, the player can use gained treasure to improve certain attributes or unlock new weapons and abilities to improve chances of escaping on subsequent runs.

  1. Something felt off while i was watching, the conversations were strange. Then I realized you bought the bed and the ball in the last video, #32.
Not that I mind. Watching these videos, and the Rogue Legacy ones, is great fun, no matter the order of the episodes.
'sbeen a while since you last put out a HotS video tho. Would be fun to see one.

  2. That sound means that you SKIPPED a fish the the room before, still hate to see you clear a room and rush to the next one
You took sniper shot again and stand in point blank again

  3. So what you can do is get the Blitz Disc upgrade on Aegis and then every single hit will fire off an Arrow with Support Fire. If you also make it apply Hangover it will make for a ridiculously easy run.

  4. Hey Pally, just wanna say there’s hidden aspects to all the weapon. In order to start unlocking them you have to invest 5 titan’s blood into a single aspect of the spear and talk to Achilles, sometimes a couple of times. Once the hidden spear aspect is unlocked you can unlock any of the other hidden weapon aspects by once again investing 5 titan’s blood into a single aspect. The shield has a really cool hidden aspect that makes your cast have a bigger AoE and deal more damage, I think you would like it!

  5. what pally is trying to do with support fire. do it with the blitz shield. it works, but using the blitz shield is… very different than how you use shields normally in this game.
sidenote: i'd switch the ability to reroll rooms with the one that rerolls boons/charon shop items (purple pool items) that one makes it alot easlier to aim for specific builds but it's still kinda random.. just makes it easier

  7. The keepsakes for the olympians only makes their boon show up once. After that, its only bonus is rarity increase, which is still decent, but generally its not recommended to use them for more than one region.

  8. Now that you're better at using a weapon's whole kit instead of just one thing, you should really try the gun's special. Hammer upgrades that make it amazing: 3 consecutive specials, drop 5 bombs instead of just 1, and turning the bomb into a rocket. If you can get 5 rockets, boom, you can decimate all manner of opponent.

  9. Pally. Not sure if you're aware or not but the Hera bow allows you to load all 3 of your cast crystals and fire them all together, making for one large shot of damage similar in some ways to using the Eris rail with it's special buff.

  10. So if you read support fire carefully, it says when you use your cast, so as soon as you press the cast button it will shoot it, otherwise it's for every attack or special that connects, fast weapons like fists and gun are crazy for that, also I think the Hera bow works better with regenerating casts, not multiple casts, makes it less of a chore to find the casts after they are used

  11. That was a pretty bad weapon upgrade you picked for your playstyle with the bow. +200% Dmg on *distant* enemies, but you keep dashing next to them and shooting barely drawn shot at them. Also the Support Fire boon is pretty good, but with bow, it's little underwhelming. You need something that attacks fast to get maximum benefit of the boon, like Exagryph or the fists. Sorry if the comment sounds super negative, but I am trying to give constructive criticism, I'm just not great at it. Entertaining video as always though.

  12. The ordering feels off! Last episode you were already playing matchmaker with Achilles and Patroclus, now they are asking about eachother like they've never talked about it before… The runs are misordered!
