the combat does get a bit samey for just a tad bit too long, by the time you're bored of the combat you've barely unlocked any titans blood which is what changes up the combat with different mehtoods of using your weapons, its just a bit too late for that spice in my mind
4:29 Is that an EFAP reference Yahtzee you magnificent bastard?!
There's an easy mode? puts on shades
Spoiler alert….most people don't know squat about Greek or Norse mythology. They just think they do because of video games and movies. I'll give one example out of MANY; the animated movie "Hercules" set in Greece….where the name would have been Haracles because "Hercules" is Roman. The list of major issues like that, which appear in movies and video games with depressing regularity, is huge.
So if you think you know about anything because you played it in a video game or saw it in a movie, I strongly suggest doing some real research on it.
It’s always really makes me think I should take a look at a game it when it starts to make Yahtzee start talking in pros and cons like a serious game reviewer and not just his usual deliverer of excellent video game themed comedy snark.
Bought the game based solely on this video. Haven't regretted a moment of play…
THE GUN IS THE BEST, GODDAMNIT
0:21 oof lol
150 hours later…. yea Hades is the drug I needed most during quarantine.
3 people to form a religion then go wild
Such a great game and such a fun review. Thanks, Yahtz!
0:55 isn't that what american gods is? In other words, yes you can
I don't get the potato salad analogy.
Neil Gaiman did in fact, make new gods. They were just as petty as the old ones.
Jesus christ, this game blew up over night. I’ve been seeing on literally every channel I watch.
Digital Devil Saga from the venerable Shin Megami Tensei series is based on Hindu myth
New Mythology is just superhero shit and anime
Please keep making content because it is incredibly fun.
This review seems to lack the usual fire, almost as if it's' one draining sigh. Watching/listening to many reviews in the last few weeks, this one is rather dull, lacking and forced. Much sad.
0:53 there is already an Annoya, Goddess of things that get stuck in drawers. Shes part of the Discworld pantheon of Gods and is a lesser Goddess.
Yhatzee translation:
If you are a fan of the rogue like genre, you probably already know about this game due to early access, and he liked a lot of aspects of it. He has some personal gripes, but thats more of a him thing. You should probably check it out.
Has yatzhee played this war of mine?
1:00 play a real megoomy tensay gaem
Wow he's actually using the journalism mode. How the mighty have fallen
We need a game based on Gnostic mythology. We already got Yaldabaoth and Adam Kadmon in Persona 5, let's get one with ALL those bastards in it
Not a single mention of the soundtrack? What the fuck.
Any fan of Discworld will tell you Annoya is the Goddess of things stuck in drawers.
Ah, it seems that Yahtzee is also fond of the Simp Simulator.
I mean Hades.
Yes, totally what I meant.
Played Hades in early access for a long time that when the game was finally released, couldn't care anymore. Got around 35 hours of gameplay out of a 15$ game, so it's all good.
Was that a Pratchett reference?
Respect!
Pyre made up its own mythology and everyone slept on it.
The only crime that this game commits is if there is one thing Hades was besides a rapist and sadist, it was a good father.
Weird, I got a vaguely positive vibe from Yahtzee's original video on Pyre. I wonder if his opinion has soured over time…?
The reason that most mythology based games comes from Greek mythology is 2 main reasons.
1. The Greeks wrote everything thing down so we know a lot because of the many many sources.
2. Aside from Greek and Egyptian mythology, we don’t know much about any other cultures ‘true’ mythology because the original texts were lost because of Christian expansion, and they replaced it with their own version.
Damn, I would totally be down for a game based on Zoroastrian mythology!
Pyre was fucking awful. I think I played it for like 2 hours and never touched it again
Yachtzee! Annoya is already the goddess of things that get stuck in drawers.
Supergiant Games : "Exploring the dichotomy between movies you think are good and the type of movies that you actually watch."
Can't say I disagree though. There's a tone of games that I find a lot more interesting to learn about than to actually play. I'm sure there's a long German word for that.
10/10 You can pet Cerberus.
