Hercules is a 1997 American animated musical fantasy comedy film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation for Walt Disney Pictures. The 35th Disney animated feature film and the eighth animated film produced during the Disney Renaissance, the film was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. The film is loosely based on the legendary hero Heracles (known in the film by his Roman name, Hercules), the son of Zeus, in Greek mythology.
Development of Hercules began in 1992 following a pitch adaptation of the Heracles mythological stories by animator Joe Haidar. Meanwhile, Clements and Musker re-developed their idea for Treasure Planet (2002) following the critical and commercial success of Aladdin (1992). Their project was removed from development in 1993, and Musker and Clements joined Hercules later that same year. Following an unused treatment by Haidar, Clements and Musker studied multiple interpretations of Greek mythology before abandoning Zeusβs adulterous affair with Alcmene. The project underwent multiple story treatments and a first script draft was inspired by the screwball comedy films of the classic Hollywood era and popular culture of the 1990s. Donald McEnery, Bob Shaw, and Irene Mecchi were brought on board to revise the script. British cartoonist Gerald Scarfe was recruited as production designer and produced over seven hundred visualization designs of the characters. Research trips to Greece and Turkey provided inspiration for the background designs. Animation for the film was done in California and Paris. Computer animation was used in several scenes, predominantly in the Hydra battle sequence.

Zeus is always watching is sonny boy Herc. That means he HAS to have seen him make this deal with Hades. Come on.

Hades really had a decisive victory wrapped up if he just ensured Meg didn't get hurt before Hercules died. That was a crucial error that singlehandedly wrecked his takeover over Olympus and also led to Hercules becoming a God.
1:36: That face Hercules makes when he sees Hades just kills me. Heβs like βWhoβs this guy?β π
0:31 I OWN YOUUUUUUUU!!!.
My favorite thing abut Hades is how he's always on the verge of exploding in rage. And this line reading 3:46
I feel like the moment he yelled βHeβs a guy!β Is when he figured out the weakness.

Why You Little 1:54
What I love so much about Hades and what makes him a phenomenal villain, is how he is completely capable of getting shit done in a matter of seconds on his own (manipulating Hercules to give up his strength to save Meg, but twists the knife even further by informing him of Meg's betrayal just to hurt him even more)!
But he is also the type that would rather sit back, relax and enjoy the show while his minions do the dirty work for him.
Just like your Father Zeus.β‘

Hercules you should I have any weakness, hades.
Call me crazy, but I was honestly rooting for Hades more than Herc the whole movie, either because he just steals the show, or the whole βHero wins, Villain losesβ trope is just inevitable by Disney standards. (But thatβs just me)

Had Hades just made the 24 hours without strength part of the deal and anyone getting harmed didn't break the deal, Hades would've won for sure.
Man I love Hade's haste with "going once…", came in handy as a tactic irl to not waste time with people on some decisions and agreements.
