  1. 37:00 One goof you did with your calculations is that you mulplied the damage by 105%, instead of adding 105% to your base, and then multiplying (because the boons say "+" before the percentage, meaning it's additive :v), which would actually leave you with 205%, effectively doubling all your attack gains from the hammer

  2. Yeah I also play MKB, though they specifically tell you controller is recommended on the starting screen so might be better if you have one laying around. Congrats on teaching gramps a lesson so early! That souped up omega attack is nuts.

  3. Selene's keepsake is pretty decent in Fields of Mourning (or prior) because it seems to be almost certain you'll see her at some point within the area (even as a random minor reward which the keepsake will still apply towards). You can pick it up whenever though; even if you have it at the very start or Oceanus, switching the keepsake out will still provide its benefit for the next path or stars (wherever that is). Best to wait before switching to it though since you may not have a Hex that compliments your build too well–where you'll want to focus on other things. On the same topic, Wolf Howl is very strong (it lets you reposition constantly as well as deal damage). As of the latest update, I don't think any hexes are weak besides maybe baseline Dark Side (which can still become very strong when upgraded fully, so may need to be received early and/or requires a cast heavy build).

Chaos keepsake is great also. The boon doesn't go away when you switch it out, and they can be really powerful especially when its levelled (without having any 'curse' or downside). Can help define your build early on if you take it.

  4. Ten runs is VERY early, considering you had Eris show up for half of them. It took me twice as many to beat Chronos for the first time. Congrats on an early victory!

  5. Don't look down on the little 10%s that show up through various boons! After getting your Aphrodite boon on the attack, you don't have a straightforward way of getting more damage for it at that point. 10% through 3-4 boons, plus whatever hades gives for the death defiances can easily make your attack modifier to from 120% to 200%. Similarly, small damage injections such as revenge type boons are all adding up to your dps. Mean Streak from Hermes especially helps, more so in encounters with many opponents.
Funnily enough this run you had a 25-35 (if enemy was dazed) dodge chance permanently. Kinda crazy

  6. Selene's wolf howl, especially a heavily upgraded one is ridiculously strong and fun at only a 40 magick recharge. I like gettimg selene's keepsake in the mourning fields, feels like I always see her there and even if not you can find her small upgrade which also triggers the keepsake i believe. The hex pairs amazingly well with builds that quickly spend magick.

  7. Congrats on beating Chronos. And it wasn't even close.

    Some information on the myths:
Mel's little trail of shades is actually one of the few things we have written about her. She wanders the surface, trailed by a parade of ghosts. Fun (and adorable) little detail.
"I call, Melinoe, saffron-veiled, terrene, … Thy coloured members, men by night inspire when seen in spectred forms, with terrors dire; now darkly visible, involved in night, perspicuous now they meet the fearful sight." – Orphic Hymn 71 to Melinoe (trans. Taylor) (Greek hymns C3rd B.C. to 2nd A.D.)
Additionally: Homer also quotes that "saffron-veiled" descriptor in the game.

Arachne was indeed a human originally. A talented weaver who made the all too common mistake of indulging a little too hard in hubris; boasting she could even beat Athena, goddess of crafts. For her hubris, Athena turned her into a spider. Hence why spiders weave webs.

I don't really think there's anything about age making a god more powerful. Apart from the general understanding that with age comes experience and wisdom. Zeus is the youngest of his siblings and yet is considered the best of the gods. Hermes and Artemis were also getting up to shenanigans mere moments after being born. Artemis helped deliver her twin brother, Apollo, meanwhile Hermes started pranking Apollo by stealing his cattle. Truly, Apollo is the middle child.
It also doesn't account for different versions of the gods' ages. Eros is sometimes the child of Aphrodite, but also sometimes a primordial spawned directly from Chaos. Aphrodite is sometimes older than Zeus as she's born of the Titans overthrowing Ouranos, but sometimes is the daughter of Zeus and Dione.
It's also worth noting that the mythology exists to justify the religion. The hierarchy was already established by practice, so the stories don't necessarily follow clean rules such as "gods get more powerful as they get older."

    Maybe spoilers for Echo's story:

Echo definitely does have a romantic situation with another one of the characters. She fell for Narcissus. However, given his whole deal and the fact that she literally wasted away from neglect, I don't imagine the resolution to that story will turn out quite as well as Achilles' and Patroclus'.

  8. I played mouse and keyboard for Hades 1 (back then on a notebook 💀), but now that I can use the controller for Hades 2 it's for sure better IMO. The aiming isn't that much of an issue because usually the auto-aim does most of the work (I only have some trouble with the Omega Attack for the staff, honestly). But it's just so much easier to do stuff like Casts, Hexes, etc while running around. Having to take a finger off of your WASD to press an R or Q or whatever has never felt really confortable to me. I guess you could bind everything to some mouses, but I never get used to that.

  9. I played Hades 1 a lot, and always on M+KB.
I find that usually, when a developer "recommends" using controller, it's still worth using M+KB if that's what you are more familiar and comfortable with.
A few games have the M+KB controls implemented so bad they are borderline unplayable without custom bindings and third party tweaks – but Hades is made better than this.

  10. I think you've missed the overlook view at the entrance to the fields every single run.

The letter means that it is a Fated encounter, in this case a miniboss you haven't faced before.

And I play with a controller for Hades, if only because I often lose where the mouse cursor is in the middle of a battle. So aiming with a joystick is actually easier in this case. Less awkward button use as well imo.

  11. That was an exciting run. I kept waiting for some game-changing boon to show up, but it seemed to be a lot of things adding up, and your skill of course. Congratulations on the win. And the bath.

  12. With controller or keyboard, just use what you're comfortable with. In the first Hades game the auto aim is very accurate. Not so much on this one I feel, but still good. It's still early access after all, there might be changes
