Game Description:
Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that combines the best aspects of Supergiant’s critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.
BATTLE OUT OF HELL
As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you’ll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.
UNLEASH THE FURY OF OLYMPUS
The Olympians have your back! Meet Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, and many more, and choose from their dozens of powerful Boons that enhance your abilities. There are thousands of viable character builds to discover as you go.
BEFRIEND GODS, GHOSTS, AND MONSTERS
A fully-voiced cast of colorful, larger-than-life characters is waiting to meet you! Grow your relationships with them, and experience thousands of unique story events as you learn about what’s really at stake for this big, dysfunctional family.
BUILT FOR REPLAYABILITY
New surprises await each time you delve into the ever-shifting Underworld, whose guardian bosses will remember you. Use the powerful Mirror of Night to grow permanently stronger, and give yourself a leg up the next time you run away from home.
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE
Permanent upgrades mean you don’t have to be a god yourself to experience the exciting combat and gripping story. Though, if you happen to be one, crank up the challenge and get ready for some white-knuckle action that will put your well-practiced skills to the test.
SIGNATURE SUPERGIANT STYLE
The rich, atmospheric presentation and unique melding of gameplay and narrative that’s been core to Supergiant’s games is here in full force: spectacular hand-painted environments and a blood-pumping original score bring the Underworld to life.

love how you googled it to make sure you understand!
Patro*clis* = sound of nail on a chalkboard
JUST CALL HIM PAT >:c
Also Keith: I got purple 😀
Me crying: plz just call it darkness TwT
Poor Persephone
If she wants to be with her only son then she will also need to live under the same roof as Hades.
Maybe we can permanently kill him? Or at least seal him with Chaos? But then Chaos would need to hang out with Hades and that's just cruel.
I'm sure they can find some small nice cottage in Elysium like Eurydice did.
The bonus damage per Curse is pretty powerful, but it basically forces you to go for only a few Gods if you want to take full advantage of it.
I'm unsure why you picked Poseidon since getting his curse requires a minimum of 2 boons. Same with Athena and Zeus. Artemis is even worse, since her curse affects a nearby enemy from the one you're attacking.
Dionysus, Artemis, Demeter and Ares are the go-to if you want a status effect build. Their curses come immediately as boons you can enhance your main abilities with.
I looove Aphrodite's Aid. I tend to wait for the greater call in general anyway, and having it bring pretty much every boss IMMEDIATELY down to a health gate is so satisfying
That little "oop!" Poseidon makes in the duo conversation is my absolute favorite line-read in the entire game.
Cast has nothing to do with your weapon… until you start going down the Hera Bow rabbit hole. God, I love that thing.
A couple of days ago I did a run with the shield where I got Minotaur Rush and Charged shot with an Artemis boon on the attack which turned the Shield into a gigantic cannon that did ~600 damage if I hit my power shot and over 1500 damage if I also got a crit (also, that Charged Shot is unblockable so those shielded enemies in elysium stood no chance). Those are the runs that keep you coming back to try for more crazy builds.
I loooove Dark Foresight. Get your keys and gem rooms OUT OF MY RUN.
Maybe you notice this later in the video, but since reddit failed you:
As you beat the rooms, you may notice that exit doors either have gold or blue laurels around the reward icons. Blue chooses from the pool of meta-currencies: Darkness, Keys, Nectar, and Gems. Gold is for everything else: Boons, Hammers (2x per run max), Centaur Hearts, Obols, Poms. Shops and Special rooms are their own category. Skulls can appear on many of these types of door for better rewards, but doesn't determine what the reward is. (I say 'many' because Hammer and Nectar rooms don't have different levels of rewards.)
Shops will appear twice per act usually (except act4, obviously, that shop is just there).
So Dark Foresight lowers your chances of meta-currencies in favor of being more powerful that run.
Hahahahaha, Keith, the stuff at the end of the game costs at minimum 2,275 obols. 2000 if you don't want to replace your hammer upgrades. You're good getting money anytime you don't have a better choice. 😛
Hm. The way you play, I think you'd have really benefited from the Aspect of Chaos shield. Oh well. Next time maybe.
umm.. Not sure where you got the idea Dionysus has anything to do with Death Defiance. Only Athena restores or empowers those. (Of the gods, I mean. Patroclus and the Wells of Charon also can.)
Hangover: Status Curse: For 4 seconds, victim keeps taking damage. Stacks up to 5 times. 4 seconds. FOUR SECONDS. Dionysus' Aid: Inflicts Hangover on nearby enemies for 1.5 seconds. As in, it pulses repeatedly for 1.5 seconds, inflicting 4 second stacks of Hangover. Charging it to max basically does nothing, as it only stacks to 5 anyway and still only lasts 4 seconds. It just pulses for 9 seconds instead of 1.5. The in-game explanation is kinda fucky, and makes you look in 3 different places to piece it together.
25:45 You can't get an early win in a survival room, but it's still recommended you try to kill enemies because they drop gold/obols.
33:15 Yeah, bosses are immune to knock-back, but at least you can still trigger Rupture on them if you get Razor Shoals (for attacks that have Boon-enabled knock-back).
44:37 I think the only reason not to pick Aphrodite at that point is that the game is more likely to give you boons for gods that are already in your pool (the ones you've seen in the run); that build would have gotten even stronger if you had Poseidon's and Zeus's legendary boons. Once you've taken boons from 4 different gods (not counting Hermes and Chaos), those are the only ones you'll find (unless you use keepsakes for gods outside of that pool).
54:48 Hades has 17k HP per phase. It might not look like much compared to that, but the 2500 damage from Aprodite's call is still a lot.
1:23:10 Yep, that's almost the "full potential" of the Poseidon/Zeus build (thanks to the Sea Storm duo)! Being able to knock back, rupture, lightning and jolt in a single attack is a big deal (it was pretty satisfying to see you pull it off 👍). It could have gotten even more powerful if you got Zeus's Double Strike ("Your lightning bolt effects have a chance to strike twice"), Splitting Bolt ("All your lightning effects create an additional burst") and Poseidon's Second Wave ("Your knock-away effects shove foes a second time after the first") boons.
Sea Storm is worded differently than other Poseidon boons because you don’t actually need one of his boons to trigger it, just to qualify for it. As long as a move has innate knockback, like the shield's attack or the blade's special, it’ll trigger Sea Storm.
One important thing to note about the dionysus call is that it's not that its hangover lasts 1,5 seconds, but that it keeps inflicting hangover for 1,5 seconds (I believe once every 0,5 seconds), and hangover can stack with itself 4 times, so at max it would be 17 damage times four, twice a second, or 136 damage per second, the stack lasts 4 seconds after the call ends, so at max stacks you can be looking at 1768 or more damage at base level every time you use a greater call.(and thats on blue rarity)
The reason you were gaining so much extra gold in those last rooms, was because of the golden urns. Those small rooms tend to have a lot of them, and you dashing around alot, you were breaking them without even noticing. That's why upgrading the urns at the contractors is way better then it sounds. Going through all 5 sets of rooms, you can easily gain an extra 5-600 gold just from urns.
KEITH KEITH
About Dio call, yes, it is 300 damage… per stack. Hangover can apply up to 5 stacks. So in reality it's more like 1500. It's good and very spamable call.
Jolted and Rupture with Sea Storm activate Privileged Status on top of damage they themselves deal and since you have it on your main attack, you have it active constantly, while also spamming Rupture and Jolted damage. Then there are all damage modifiers you had on top of that. Awesome combo! Wonder what actual dps was.
that cackle of disbelieve right at the end when aphrodite hits hades :'''''D
I started exclusively saving money for the meta-progression at the last shop. I know you dissed it, but it only failed me once out of 8 separate runs, and the rare rewards are so slow to come by
The Fates in this game and in mythology are just assholes, yes they hold more power to write the lifes and deaths of mortals and gods but clearly abuses it and never understand the higher concept of "theme".
You should definitely prioritize getting as much nectar as possible until every character is at 5 hearts, that's the only way for lots of story progress to trigger.
