Miscellaneous Myths: Hades and Persephone is a funny and INCREDIBLE Youtube video on Greek mythology. It’s a hilariously smart video by @Overly Sarcastic Productions. In my “Miscellaneous Myths: Hades and Persephone” reaction I look at this hilariously weird and wild video and even learn some things!

  1. If you do more OSP, please Please PLEASE do Blue's Failed Assassination's video! It's SO funny!

Edit: OH and by the way, if you want to hear about the story that inspired Frozen, Red covered that as well. It's called the Snow Queen, if I recall correctly.

  2. Now you're checking out some different youtube content from MC, I highly recommend "A Heist With Markiplier". It's sort of an interactive Choose Your Own Adventure-esque film through the form of many, many YT videos. It's got a great sense of humor and a decent amount of cameos from other Youtubers, and it's an official Youtube Original production.

  3. Wow, been on a kick lately for these two because I started replaying Hades and listening to Hadestown again, so what a crazy coincidence that you reacted to the Hades and Persephone video!

  4. I actually recently re-watched the OSP Aphrodite video, and it was way more interesting than I remembered! Highly recommend. Though, since you've now done two of Red's videos, it's only fair you do one of Blue's next! I'm seeing a lot of people recommending Failed Assassinations and Pope Fights, but I also submit to you these options: Plague, The Best Couples In History, The Best(?) Couples In History, and Greek Wise Guys.

  5. Hey, if you like OSP, you should check out Red's Trope Talks series, as well as Journey to the West and some of the Halloween videos (the HP Lovecraft video is especially good)

  6. The “Christmas music” at the end was in reference to the part of the discussed myth that involved a mini ice age. OSP often ends on a thematically appropriate cover that somehow ties into the story that was told, so keep an eye out if you continue watching this series. In related news, OSP does have a video on Aphrodite if I recall correctly. They do cover that story referenced in your intro, in case you’re curious. OSP is great fun

  9. Frozen was based on a story called “The Ice Queen” OSP also has a video on that. Honestly even knowing that fact i dont really see it but the author is Hans Christian Andersen and frozen has the character Hans Kristof Anna Sven.

  10. It's interesting you reference Phantom of the Opera when looking at Hades and Persephone's marriage. The two pairings, I think, share a lot of similarities: An underground-dwelling and gloomy man (who is closely associated with death–Phantom is repeatedly described as skeletal, having ice-cold hands, and sleeps inside a coffin) obsesses over and kidnaps a young woman, who ultimately grows to pity (and in Persephone's case, to love) him, and agrees to a cycle of leaving for fresh air and revisiting him beneath the earth.
