I've played about 90 hours, completed the Good Ending and gotten most characters maxed out but I've never seen that bag of gold, or maybe not noticed it early on. 🙁 Admittedly I ususally choose free booms over Charon's shop to save money for the titan blood/diamond. I was tempted to do more Charon's Shop just for the chance of battling him but it's too rare
Honestly when that bag of coins showed up i had 0 idea at all that it would trigger a robbery from Charon and I clicked it thinking oh nice i can borrow and then the music cut, charon turned around and I thought the game bugged, then when it got to the battle room i had to fight for my life because Charon is the most unpredictable fight i ever had, it cost me life saves and I barely made it with a pinch of health. Never again! But also super awesome fight to trigger.
First time it happened, I didn't know it would trigger a fight, thought I could borrow/owe him. I was STRUGGLING to keep alive 😭😭. Almost in a panic trying to hit him without getting hit (failed!). I couldn't predict his attack pattern at all my first fight(s). Felt like he barely gave me a window to reposition before I could hit him, and far too soon he was attacking again.
Last time I tried it, I survived well enough but I was playing it super safe and it took me a while to get out of there 😂.
Today I learned that the Hidden Aspect of the sword is really good for this fight in particular. Big Damage, slows those skull wave things with the special, it all works out well.
I never picked the bag of gold in a serious run because I thought there would be a catch, like paying interest or something. But if I knew it was gonna be a hidden boss fight I would've picked it earlier!
When first i saw it i knew it was just me stealing Charon's money, but oh god that mf is stronger than Hades himself until this day i couldn't beat him
I love everything building to his fight! The record scratch, the sudden realization that Charon now has a health bar, the remix???? Gold✨👌
Yeah but I remember pull this shit for the first time and fighting for my life but at this point I’m so used to it I do it for shits and giggles ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I just fought him earlier cus I thought it would actually give me free money… I died so quick cus I was also using the weapon I sucked the most at (it was the bow and arrow one, I only used it to complete prophecies)
Zag would only steal if 1) It was his father's money and 2) as a bonding activity
So Erebus, the god of Darkness, and Nyx's husband, is not a character in the game but a battle area? And Charon only has access to it?
i actually skipped that one by accident, now i know what he said 😂

You're welcome

my favourite line is when Zag just says 'piss off' after being hit
I also love when he says "whew"
I accidentally stole his money not knowing it was his and he straight merked me 😂🥲

The record scratch is just perfect for this scene.
I still can't fight Charon without taking unnecessary amount of Damage, damn it, he's good at swinging his paddle.
That record scratch made me have ptsd. I thought I would have to owe him money, not fight for my God damn life. At least I get a discount.
The deadliest weapon in the game is a freaking oar.

Fat redditor style humor. Was this game written by the writers of borderlands?
It all goes back to him anyway.

My personal favourite is when you fight Theseus and Asterius and he just goes:
"Asterius… Other guy."

Charon be fucking me right up with that oar
lol the look at me line is my fav too too bad i wasnt recording and wasnt fast enough to screenshot it
I can think of three instances where an oar was better than a sword. Give me money
