Hades is a roguelike action role-playing video game developed and published by Supergiant Games. It was released for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Nintendo Switch on September 17, 2020, which followed an early access release from December 2018.

Players control Zagreus, the son of Hades, as he attempts to escape from Underworld to reach Mount Olympus, at times aided by gifts bestowed on him from the other Olympians. Each run challenges the player through a random series of rooms populated with enemies and rewards. The game has a hack and slash combat system; the player uses a combination of their main weapon attack, dash power, and magic ability to defeat them while avoiding damage to progress as far as possible. While Zagreus will often die, the player can use gained treasure to improve certain attributes or unlock new weapons and abilities to improve chances of escaping on subsequent runs.

  1. Popping in with more tips and clarifications!

Hey, you finally noticed the downside to the god trials (duo boon rooms). It's not just world 3 that punishment happens in (as you mentioned in video), it's whatever god you don't choose, regardless of where you are in your run. Zeus is one of the rougher ones. (Athena is actually pretty tame! You chose… poorly)

Something that most people don't notice immediately is that knockback has effects beyond just moving the enemy. Bouncing enemies into walls / crumbling towers / other enemies does significant additional damage. Bullying weak enemies by constantly hitting them against a wall can practically double your damage output in some scenarios. You can see this in the damage reports above the enemy, where it says things like 'wall slam'. This applies to ANYTHING that does knockback, not just from Poseidon's boons (though they do make it easier). Shield is pretty good at this by default through the charge, and I think the default attack? The 3rd hit of the sword combo also applies knockback.

Keep in mind is that this knockback damage won't mean anything for the full stage bosses, since they don't take knockback at all. Poseidon does have a boon to offset that downside.
