Trying Out a Spin Build | Hades | #101

Hades is a roguelike action role-playing video game developed and published by Supergiant Games. The game was released for Microsoft Windows and Nintendo Switch on September 17, 2020, which followed an early access release from December 2018. Players control Zagreus, the son of Hades, as he attempts to escape from Underworld to reach Mount Olympus, at times aided by gifts bestowed on him from the other Olympians. Each run challenges the player through a random series of rooms populated with enemies and rewards, and the player uses a combination of their main weapon attack, dash power, and magic ability to defeat them while avoiding damage to progress as far as possible. While Zagreus will often die, the player can use gained treasure to improve certain attributes or unlock new weapons and abilities to improve chances of escaping on subsequent runs.

  1. I see you having struggles with damage: spin build is best followed up with a strong cast. You spin to clear the field and mark strong enemies, then dump your cast into the strong ones. Had you gone for Athena cast instead of Ares, it would have worked much better. Pump up cast if you play Hades spear again and you'll feel a difference. Works well with Athena or Poseidon.

  2. No lie, I once played a round where I got only 2 god doors the whole game. It was all currency. I was so mad I just turned it off. Also, I've rarely had a good spear game. Usually barely squeak by.

  3. "i,M sUrE i'M gOnNa uSe tHIs fOr sUrE" dude it's so good. You know in cases when you have shitty demage xD My first win with this aspect was quick spin, explosive special, doom attack, athena special with all doom boons and duo between them. The dmg was crazy. Exlpoding the doom after getting it on everyone. I think I hade Dyo on dash with the duo with Ares as well. Just a crazy run and I don't like spears as well but that was the dream spear run.

  4. Get a real-life pomegranate. You do not need to soak them but it is wise to open them while they are submerged – the little seeds inside burst easily while opening, spraying (and staining) everything around… including clothes. Opening them underwater fixes that. They are pretty damn tasty.

  5. I look at all your resources and I can’t help but feel a little jealous.

Also, do you know about the fat dude in the lounge that lets you exchange resources for other resources? Like you can trade in those ambrosia for titan blood.

  6. It seems like the reason why you don't think Dusa's Keepsake does you any good is because you skipped like 90% of the urns. I don't even feel like that's being hyperbolic. It doesn't seem to affect your performance so keep at it I guess.

  7. hey pally, damage % dont stack with themselves, it all gets added up in an additive way, so getting doom when you have a chaos upgrade or whatever is actually really good and imo better than having two % dmg increases

this ofc isnt the case with some daedalus upgrades that make you hit more times (like the triple strike dash attack, the double shield attack, the double sword special etc)

  8. Hey Pally! I know you asked for possible cool builds on the last Hades video, but I figured I would put it here. You should try out a Crystal Beam build!! It's a little finnicky to setup, but once you get it going it's pretty damn hilarious and overpowered as hell!!

    So the setup is this.

    Weapon: Spear
    Aspect: Achilles
    Starting Keepsake: Demeter's Horn thing.
Core Boons: Crystal Beam, Glacial Glare, Core boon from Artemis (Special or Attack seems to work best)
    Duo Boons: Crystal Clarity
Mirror Alterations: The big one is Stygian Soul so that you don't have to collect cast crystals and instead have a cooldown before you can use the ability again.
How it works: So the biggest weakness of Crystal Beam is it tracks too slowly to do consistent damage. This is fixed by the duo boon between Artemis and Demeter called Crystal Clarity. It drastically increases the tracking speed of the crystal beams, and I think it also increases their damage a bit. Another core boon to get is a tier 2 boon from Demeter called Glacial Glare. This boon increases the up time of crystal beam, and has really good pom efficiency (I think it also adds the chill debuff to the beams). Each pom adds either 1 or 2 seconds to the overall duration of the cast, so if you boost glacial glare up enough and take stygian soul, you can actually get more crystals out before the previous ones have expired making it possible to have something like 14 crystal beams out at once!! It's fucking hilarious once you get it up and running, and when they are all tracking onto targets like crazy the game basically runs on auto pilot. Finally the damage buff you get from the Achilles spear aspect applies to your cast damage as well! So you are dashing around the room like a mad man setting up laser turrets everywhere you go, all with the auto tracking of the turrets from Starcraft! It's really great! You can also get buff's from Hermes that decrease the cooldown of your cast. Also he has a legendary boon called Bad News that increases all damage your cast does by 50% so long as the target does not have a cast crystal lodged in them. Since Crystal Beam will never lodge a cast crystal in anything it's basically a permanent 50% damage buff. Of course you can also get additional cast crystals from Chaos, and temporary ones from the Charon Wells, all of which are great upgrades as well!! So yeah, the build can get really crazy, but it's a lot of fun once you get it off the ground. There are a lot of different ways to buff up the build as well, which means even if you don't get one or two of the pieces, you still have a lot of ways to boost the overall output of the build, which makes it pretty reliable as well. So yeah, give it a shot!!
