GREEK MYTH X BRIDGERTON
" have you gone mad , girl?!" My mother's face had become a great shade of red , quite like the tomatoes she grows in our garden . " Do you know what youre asking of me , to just send you away to the underworld like that " i clenched my fists and took a deep breath , preparing myself for what i was about to say . " My name is Persephone , i am the societies most eligible for this season , and i love Hades , the prince of the underworld and i want to marry him and go live with him , in his world , yes i know what im asking of you. " . My mother , Demeter , looked at me in a shock stricken way , her eyes wide open and her mouth agape . She swallowed " Well , what will i tell the society then , that the girl , my daughter brushed away the most eccentric suitors only to be with someone who lives in the dark, is it not ? " She said this in a huff yet i shot back , " you only care about the society do you not ? " I scowled . My mother retreated into a calmer tone and spoke , " yes , yes i do , what will i tell Aphrodite , your sister , who i might as well add , is also the queen . Hmm? " , " Well she deemed me most eligible for this season and i will not prove her wrong " , she huffed , yet again . " Most eligible for humans , not dangerous , animalistic – " " Hades is NOT animalistic , mama ! " At this point , rage fumed through my nerves . " You want power and money , dont you , well Hades could tear this castle apart for a brief moment and put it together again in the same , his caves are filled with gems and diamonds , fairies and magical creatures , it is not all dark down there , what more do you need , mother , while i just need love . " she spoke in a quiet voice " this is the power and money i will never accept , nor will the people of this society " , i straightened my back , and chose my next words carefully , " for years , i have bloomed like a flower for you , and for incompetent fools . Now let me show my gardens to someone else , someone different . " The hope in my mother's eyes had dissapeared but she managed to utter a very incoherent " very well " . A sharp turn of her head signalled that i was free to go to my room , and to the underworld .
