  1. I'm not usually one of those people, but I was honestly waiting for your opinion on this one before I buy. I love Hades (legit one of my favorite games of all-time) and am a big TMNT fan, so I had hopes for this when I saw people were digging it.

  2. "Why would you call them 'The Foot'?"
TMNT was originally a parody of (among other things) Frank Miller's run on Daredevil, and one of the primary antagonists of that series was a clan on ninja known as 'Tha Hand'.

  3. So every turtle can use any element, but some do fit the turtles kits better. For example, flame abilities can also include increase crit damage and chance which pairs well with Ralph's crit focused abilities. Also this game seems be it's own cannon, but seems to borrow things from the IDW comic run (Genghis design, Stockman being mayor, angel as nobody, ect). I highly recommend you check it out if you have the time. It's uses things from all around the TMNT franchise history.

  4. You know, Hades is the only Super Giant game I never played. Just never really found the time.

Anyway thanks for a good look at this game and for mentioning the co-op options.

  5. Hey Matt, this game looks to be based more on the IDW run of TMNT. If that's the case, the Rat King in that story line is more of a demigod who can move through space time and has mystical powers. He's kind of crazy powerful in that iteration, so that's most likely why he wasn't used as a first area boss. Also, Slash in that story line starts out as a nearly uncontrollable rage monster who later gets genius level intellect, Shredder is able to time travel from feudal Japan to present day with the help of another demigod, and Splinter and the turtles are actually Hamato Yoshi and his four sons reincarnated after being murdered by Oroku Sake in the past. It's a wild ride of a story, but I recommend you read it if you have the time. It takes story points from nearly every aspect of turtles lore up to that point, and mashes it all into one big narrative.

  6. I'm so torn. The idea of a good modern Turtles game just won't compute in my brain. It just fundamentally rejects it as a thing that could be real.

No shade to Shredders Revenge. But that game is inherently a throwback. I'm talking about a turtles game that isn't "Like the old ones" you know?

But derivative of Hades or not… this looks good? And while I have zero idea which iteration this is based on it still cleanly reads as Ninja Turtles to me.

    I'm curiously optimistic?

  7. This is 100% based on the IDW run. That Metalhead, Shredder, Slash, and Leatherhead design are straight from IDW. Slash was a failed experiment by Baxter Stockman to recreate the original ooze (which is from the Utrom homeworld), causing Slash to become a large child like brute. Then he was injected with Splinter's blood, which contained a pure form of the ooze, turning Slash super-intelligent and philosophical. When he's not angry, he's easily the most moral and heroic character in the run. And when he's angry he's the Hulk. Stockman being mayor is also IDW.

  8. 28:29 Well Baxter Stockman's apparently mayor of New York City, and I doubt a giant fly won the election so I'm betting he's human or maybe can switch forms

Imo Michelangelo's and Raphael's tools should have been swapped. Trash talking is much more Raphael's forte.

  9. the characters here seem mostly based on the IDW comic versions, the tortured mutant Leatherhead, the Intellectual and caring Slash and the confrontational Genghis are all right from that series's characterization
Def check it out if you can, its super good!

  10. Matt, you've got to cover 'Kakuto Choujin' for your fighting game series. John Lineman of Digital Foundry just did a retro play of some OG Xbox games, and that's the first time I've ever heard of it.
