Plenty of “youknows” here even without Allan
Fantastic show. You should consider doing Solstice's New Dark Age. It has a similar mix of Bathory, Manowar and extreme metal, but with a completely different result.
Could the documentary Marty had watched bee Once Upon a Time in Norway? That one, Satan Rir Media and Det Svarte Alvor are all good documentaries.
Just subscribed after watching your Manilla Road episode yesterday. Loving the channel so far!
I knew of Hades but hadn’t gotten around to checking out anything besides “Alone Walkyng” until now. Gave this album a listen after watching the show and really enjoyed it, I’ll definitely be checking out “Dawn of the Dying Sun” very soon as well as watching more of your videos (past and future).
Cheers 🤘🤘
Well, now I have it confirmed, as to why my copy of this album doesn't sound as I remembered first hearing it in the late 90s. Thought my brain had played a trick on me and it just didn't sound as good as nostalgia was insisting it did. Stupid remasters. I agree, and I think almost everyone agrees: Dno't mess witht he sound! I don't understand why labels haven't gotten this message. I literally don't think anyone wantsot — we just want the albums to be available for us to buy at a reasonable price again.
I like this one, though can't say it's a favourite from the scene. Listening to you fellows talka bout it though definitely made me want to play it again. i never thought of the Norwegian scene as being that blasty or aggressive, but this one still stands out with all that loping and the subtle "folky" quality to the riffs. And those huge drums, indeed, remind me of the first Immortal album, which that guy also played on (I think).
